The firm we broadly refer to as Flight & Barr actually underwent several name changes with variants of Flight and Barr, but they all refer to the procelain manufacturer founded by Dr Wall in 1751.

Wall retired from the firm in 1774 by which point the firm fell on hard times leading to its purchase by Thomas Flight not long after. The firms fortunes ebbed and tided over the years, but a visit by King George III in 1788 to purchase some porcelains provided the injection of new prestige which launched the firm into its most successful period and for which the firm is justly renowned today.

Unfortunately the visicitudes of the market caught up with it again when it was acquired by the Chamberlain works in 1840. By 1844 the firm was kaput.
