Old Paris Neo-Classical Hand Painted Campana Vase, Pair, c. 1810-20

Please note that the right vase does NOT tilt. It is my old mahogany leaf table with gate legs which is the culprit.

An absolutely delightful pair of Old Paris neo-classical Campana vases hand painted in the round with an effusion of floral bouquets including tulips, pansies, peonies, poppies, and more, on an ebullient pink ground. The bowls are supported by a round foot standing atop a square plinth. The handles are embellished with finely detailed porcelain gargoyle/mythical faces. Adding to the splendor is generous and lavish gilt on the the non-painted surfaces.

The condition of these vases is good with qualification. The one pictured on the left is wobbly and requires a repair to properly tighten. The one on the right has 2 tight cracks around the bolt. Both vases have dirt build-up and discoloration which could be removed to expose the fantastic pink ground. Fortunately, there are no chips or paint loss - though there are gilding losses as pictured.

Even with these defects, the vases would brighten a book case, nook, or sideboard. We date them to around 1810-20.
