Early American Sandwich Low Standard Compote with Lid 1924

This exceptional low standard compote is a regal treasure of high craftsmanship. It stands on a broad circular foot from which rises a short stem supporting a wide bowl decorated in three bands, the lower being hatched diamonds, the main having a stippled ground with molded flowers, scrolls, and highly stylized fleur de lys, and the final band being of clear glass. The lid is similarly designed topped with a rich acorn-like finial.

The pattern is DUNCAN & MILLER NO. 41 EARLY AMERICAN SANDWICH. It is also advertised as a candy dish.

To appreciate this glass, please note the number of pieces to compose it. The base, stem, bowl, lid, and finial number to 5 pieces, requiring skilled labor to assemble. The compote was created with a 3 part mold.

These compotes can be hard to find fully intact as this one is. It's condition is excellent, without defect. We date it c. 1925
